For the last four years he has been head gardener at Salterbridge in Waterford where he has made large scale improvements in the garden.

She studied the subject and went on to set up Lutyens & FitzGerald\, a garden design company. She has worked on  the gardens at Hillsborough Castle\, Glin and Glenarm\, among many others.

His walks and talks\, where he demonstrates the ways in which the flora and fauna in the park are nurtured and cared for is an annual highlight of the talk series.

DESCRIPTION:Light Up the Castle\, the spectacular audio-visual show projected onto the walls of Kilkenny Castle\, has become one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the Festival calendar. \nThe world is in a weird place right now (and not in a good way)\, so let’s pit good-weird against bad. This year’s show\, Rift\, is a stunning new projection that seeks out the warmth\, the fun and the good-weird that’s always there\, hiding in the dark. \nCreated by multidisciplinary artist Jack Phelan (who made the castle disappear in his unforgettable 2024 show\, Six Sides Sawn)\, Rift is another playful and endlessly inventive spectacle tearing a weird and wonderful Rift in the fabric of space and time. \nPlease note: The installation features strobe lighting. Latecomers will not be admitted. Gates open at 10.15pm at the Parade entrance.  \nWheelchair users are advised to contact the Festival box office before the show.

Written in 1985 Pärt’s Stabat Mater is composed in what he calls his ‘tintinnabuli’ style and bring us back to the liturgical roots: the purity of the thirteenth century. \n \nMusic critic Robert R. Reilly wrote ‘It is not a study in musical archaism\, but a living testimony of belief. This is music to listen to on your knees’. \n \nDeborah Pritchard says of her setting entitled ‘Vision’: ‘The vision was to create a companion piece to the Pärt\, responding to the sublime meaning illuminated in this 13th century hymn to Mary…… ‘

DESCRIPTION:On 3rd November 1324\, Petronilla de Midia became the first person in Ireland to be burned at the stake for the practice of witchcraft in a dark episode of Kilkenny’s history that would have reverberations around the world for centuries to come. Burning Woman takes that story and asks: why is this story still relevant today? This new seminar\, the first in an annual series\, brings together historians\, feminist voices and storytellers to dig into the Kilkenny Witch trial and the bigger themes hiding inside it – power\, wealth\, status\, church and state\, and who gets blamed\, excluded or pushed to the margins. \nJoining the panel are Dr Andrew Sneddon\, Senior Lecturer in International History at Ulster University and a leading historian of witchcraft and magic in Ireland; Dr Celeste McNamara\, Assistant Professor in Early Modern European History at DCU; and Mary McAuliffe\, Director of Gender Studies at UCD. \nWith Ireland holding the EU Presidency this year\, we’re widening the lens to ask how far women’s rights and treatment have really come across Europe since.
